Shikahogh is one of the unique nature spots in Armenia. It has lush vegetation, the climate is humid and warm, the whole territory of the reserve is full of crystal-clear springs, cliffs, and gorges.
There are places where steep rocky massifs emerge in the midst of the forest. Flora and fauna of the reserve represent a unique combination of species. Every gorge has its own microclimate. Besides rich natural heritage, the reserve also preserves the old Armenian traditions and customs. The visitors can discover historical monuments ranging from Iron Age tombs to populated and abandoned settlements to medieval churches and monasteries, all in deep gorges or on rocky slopes along the route.
